Whilst the majority of the Coast to Coast is inaccessible to spectators, there are some
great viewing spots at several locations along the course.
Klondyke Corner viewpoint
Check out the action at Klondyke Corner
on Friday afternoon as the Two Day competitors complete the Mountain Run and soak up the atmosphere at the overnight race village. There will be a big screen showing live action from the Mountain Run stage. Athletes are expected to arrive from 11am through until 7.30pm.
New Brighton Pier finish line
The place to be on Saturday evening will be the New Brighton Pier, with a carnival-like atmosphere, local market day, and a fireworks display in the evening. Cheer on the amazing competitors as they arrive at the completion of their challenge. Two Day athletes are expected to start finishing from 2pm and One Day athletes from 5pm.
Gorge Bridge viewpoint
From 11am on Saturday, Gorge Bridge will be buzzing as the first kayakers arrive at the finish of the river section. It will be non-stop action for a few hours and just as the Two Day paddlers start to dry up, the top One Day World Championship competitors start arriving around 3pm.
Live coverage
For those not able to make it in person, check out the live coverage at coasttocoast.co.nz
including live GPS tracking of all the top One Day athletes and those who’ve chosen to broadcast their race to the world. Scrolling live timing of all athletes, maps and live updates from the race course will all combine to keep you up to date and on the edge of your seat as the action unfolds over the two days.

Things to remember
Bring a variety of clothes if you’re there in person – the weather can change dramatically and quickly – gumboots, down jacket, rain jacket plus the shorts and flip flops! Some providers will have EFTPOS facilities but be sure to bring some cash for the coffee guys, food from the local schools and the market day in New Brighton just in case.
